Useful Advice
What happens if there is a power cut?
Your intruder alarm system will be installed with a backup battery that will have the capacity to power your alarm system for a minimum of 12 hours in the event of a power cut.
AS Security Alarms offer a service contract, which means that we look after your system. We will visit once a year and make sure that the system is in as good a condition as it was on the day it was installed.
What about pets?
Intruder alarm systems can be installed with pet tolerant detectors, which will allow the pets to move in the area that a human would trigger an alarm. Some sites may require pets to be kept to an area with movement detection installed.
Many people say that key fobs are better than pins? Which is best?
This is really up to you. If you have a policed system then key fobs are used to turn the system on and off. If it is just an audible system you can use fobs or codes.
What happens if we forget the code?
Most people don’t do anything when an alarm goes off, so what’s the point?
Burglars take notice of intruder alarm systems. Firstly it acts as a deterrent, hopefully preventing anyone attempting to break in in the first place and secondly if an intruder alarm is triggered most burglars do not wait around to see if anyone is going to check it out they just leave.
Will there be lots of cables on show?
Do I require a dedicated phone line for my security system?
Again, this is up to you and the type of communications you require. Redcare and DualCom can be installed on shared phone lines as they can communicate whilst the phone line is in use.
However, with digital communicators and diallers then a dedicated line for your intruder alarm system means that the line cannot be busy when the alarm wants to communicate.
